A Peter A Day

A Peter A Day: Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 23rd October 2012, 12:58 a.m.-1:19 a.m., Specially Dedicated to the Awesome, Great, and Talented Makeup Artist to be, Peter Soh Weng Khai and Blessed and Happy Birthday, my Dearest Di Di!!!

From now onward,
I shall begin writing;
Looking forward,
The 11th poem in completing.

Before I sleep,
I want you to think deep;
What could be the best reason that made you weep?
Be not like Little Bo Peep that lost her sheep.

Peter Di,
I love you dearly;
Once you know who you are,
You’ll definitely go far.

Control your anger,
Make yourself wiser;
Be a person bolder,
Each night pat your shoulder.

This world is stronger,
If more people are lovelier;
This world is brighter,
If more people are happier.

We live only once,
How much is there to regret?
An ocean?
A mountain?
Why not just get up and dance?
Learn to forgive and forget;
To those we’ve met,
May God’s blessings be unto them.

Master or Ph.D.,
It’s all on you, Di;
Yes or no to it,
You know where you fit.

As a Postgrad,
Praises from your Dad;
Don’t be mad,
Don’t be sad,
Is life that bad?
If yes, you won’t get what you had;
You’d think instead you wished you had,
Some people never seen before the iPad.

As your sister,
I had my blister;
UM’s life was sweet and sour,
I want you to regain your power.

Remember those who left us,
Those who don’t know us;
Isn’t it wonderful for them to see you?
Being a whole person new?

Continued: 23rd October 2012 – 6:59 p.m.-7:24 p.m.; Edited: 12th Nov.’12 – 12:48 a.m.

Fatigue is controlling over me,
My mind and my physical body;
How I wished to be free,
I don’t hope to be a somebody.

An exile island,
Of hills and mountains;
Before reaching a highland,
You’ll have to drive through narrow circles.

One thing at a time,
Why is it hard to climb?
Leaving things behind,
Looking forward to find,
The person of you inside,
There are choices that you’ve to decide;
I know these but I’m not a philosopher,
Instead I’m just a photographer.

Sometimes it’s okay to close your eyes,
Think of something nice;
We don’t know what the future lies,
We know hard work serves you rice.

Keep a positive mind,
All things happen for reasons;
Even a fine glass can scatter to pieces,
You think seeing is only for the un-blind?

This is what’s left to say,
Don’t forget to pray;
You owe you pay,
You feed the animals hay,
You fix your tooth decay,
You plan well every May;
For a Peter a day,
Keeps the sunshine laugh and ray.

My dearest Di, today is your Birthday!
Be gay and have your say!
Blessed and Happy Birthday!
All the best all the way!

Additional and Impromptu: 10th November 2012 – 9:40 a.m.-9:54 a.m.

Today I woke up so early,
Been sleeping too early;
Didn’t act too much girly,
My hair twirls and so curly.

By midnight this will be yours,
I knew I had to type it out this very moment;
For I may end up doing by force,
I hope never to walk the insincere pavement.

You’re 23, Di and don’t you ever get tired of living!

Purple and Pink

Purple and Pink: Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 27th October-28th October 2012, Saturday-Sunday, 11:23 p.m.-12:19 a.m., Room 319, Block H06, Desasiswa Bakti Permai, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang, Malaysia, Specially Dedicated to the Happy Birthday Girl, Miss Sally Yeow Seh Lee, my Lovely Best Friend since our Memorable Childhood Days of the Kindergarten and Primary One, Shah Alam, Selangor Darul Ehsan…

Everyone is a color,
Everyone has a color;
Everyone is a flower,
Everyone has a flower.

My dearest Seh Lee,
Oh, how long has it been?
Meeting up with Teacher Celine,
Missing Nicole with grief and glee.

Remember our childhood days?
Our Tadika Melody and SRK Seksyen 6?
Sadly, we went different ways,
My heart… it aches.

How have you been?
We haven’t been talking lately;
Let’s make the bond a magic bean,
Jack will help us grow it daily.

Tadika Melody,
Remember Asyraf and Sharifah?
My Mom and Teacher Ivy?
We learnt from counting to zirafah.

Sports Day/Family Day,
Lari dalam guni;
Red caps all day,
We were that tiny.

Concert Day,
Melodeons up!
Yours green and mine blue,
We were in red, too!

Still on Concert Day,
You’re purple and I’m pink;
Dancing so happily,
Waist-twisting all the way!

Don’t think I’ll forget,
You were the Little Red Riding Hood;
The Wolf was all set,
Funny but his hunt was good.

Oh my,
Look at the time;
Here I write,
Approaching my deadline.

Where was I?
Ah, the Concert!
I was dancing Portuguese with a guy,
I was super rough in skirt!

Tadika reminds me of Tan Wei Cheong,
Do you still remember?
He kissed my melodeon case if I’m not wrong,
I would say he could be my kindergarten lover.

Then, it was 1 Melur,
We watched each other grow;
We wore tailor-made cheongsam,
Took photos also with some.

Standard 1,
I was naughty;
I stamped shoeprints,
On the girl’s pinafore.

How bad I was,
Apologized at fault;
She sang an Indian song,
It went, “Pramira pramira pramira wawa.”

Dear Indian girl,
Please forgive me;
You’re tall and bigger,
Those that I can never be.

My dearest Seh Lee,
How long has it been?
Twenty years of friendship,
And still cheerfully counting.

The 5 years old we,
And the 25 years old we;
How much we still care,
You look sweet with your long hair.

You saw your passion in Pharmacy,
Mine in Communication writing;
Let’s contribute with specialty,
Let’s reach those who are waiting.

I’ve exceeded midnight,
But I’m no Cinderella or Snow White;
I hope it’s not too late to wish goodnight,
I hope you’ve eaten the cake to the last bite.

My best friend,
Take my hand;
There’s no “The End”,
We love and understand.

Blessed and Happy Birthday!
2012’s 27th October, Saturday;
25 is just a number to say,
I know it since before Labor Day.

Our schooling days,
Sunny and rainy days;
Cikgu Salina has been great,
We weren’t even 8.

That was when I left Shah Alam,
For Bandar Sri Damansara;
The clock still ticks its alarm,
You and I’ll never bid sayounara.

Let’s depend on technology for now,
As WhatsApp has allowed;
Soon we meet up aloud,
Chatting from 5 W’s and 1 How.

I shall let your eyes rest,
I’ve written a test;
From East to West,
Know that you’re the best!

P/S: 12:49 a.m.-12:51 a.m.

I miss eating keropok,
Cotton candy ice-cream and jeruk;
I miss writing letters like before,
Patience of days of three to four.

“I miss you so, Seh Lee… Thank you very much and sorry for everything…”

If You Think You Are Not Me

If You Think You Are Not Me
Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 9th September 2012, Saturday, 2:46 p.m.-3:37 p.m., In My Room, USM Hostel, This is Specially Dedicated to My Charming Brother and Persona, Peter Soh Weng Khai.

Curtain.

Do you remember?
Now that it is September;
Forget about Justin Bieber,
Let’s talk about our member.

Starbucks and University Heights,
Both sparkle with lights;
We talk about our prides,
We laugh and cry about our sides.

Our Sri Nibong’s lao di fang,
My room in Desasiswa Bakti Permai;
We sing the songs unsung,
We don’t know when we’ll die.

Humanity,
Sexuality;
Dignity,
Priority.

Motherhood,
Childhood;
Neighbourhood,
Schoolhood.

Nationality,
Culturality;
Raciality,
Religionality.

Who are we?
Do you know me?
If you think you are not me,
Please shut up and leave.

Stop the judging,
Bring back the understanding;
Open up your mind more foreign,
Make your life less boring.

What’s wrong with me?
Who are you to point at me?
Aren’t you human, too?
You speak my language, too.

Dear you,
You’re not me;
You think of the opposite,
Of whom I’m before you.

Stop pretending,
Here I’m standing;
Take me or leave me,
Stop assuming,
Stop hating,
Stop regretting;
Stop thinking I’m who you believe,
I don’t want and need you to be sorry,
You can’t change me,
Stop being a busybody,
Pick your words up wisely.

Don’t mix all of our personal backgrounds,
Can’t we be as colourful as clowns?
Why do we have sighs and frowns?
When we speak on ourselves with our own mouths?

Heterosexuality,
Homosexuality;
Bisexuality,
Transgenderality.

Before I was even born,
God already knew me;
Why then must I be torn?
I live only for me.

I thank my Mother,
The bearer;
The survivor,
The ultimate caretaker.

Mothers are not to be blamed,
DNAs are fixed and framed;
I’m who I’m today,
I don’t care what you say.

Do all of the whatever as you may,
Leave me alone from your brain;
Your heart also okay,
I choose who I wanna spend my day.

Friendship,
Relationship;
Hypocrite,
Concrete.

Total Recall,
Rise and fall;
True and false,
Play and pause.

I’m not a disgrace,
I’m not in any race;
So what if I love lace?
So what if I love make-up on my face?

Don’t worry about hurting my heart,
It’s very strong from Science to Art;
In all that you do I wish you good luck?
At least when I quack I sound like a duck.

Read more books,
See your looks;
I’ve nothing to lose,
Why follow all of the rules?

I’m my difference,
I’m my reference;
I don’t need your preference,
I don’t need your entrance.

This is my story,
I’m proud of me;
I’m not lonely,
Their hands are clapping for me.

Curtain.

P/S: This is the last message from me,
        Excuse me only for now definitely;
        Reminiscence of the essence of my upbringing,
        I’m gonna show my part by saving the existing.

Foreshadow My Sorrow

Foreshadow My Sorrow:
Originally self-composed and self-written by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 2:29 p.m. - 2:39 p.m., 21st August 2012, Tuesday, USM Hostel, Penang (Edited by yours truly from 5:55 a.m. till 5:58 a.m. on 22nd August 2012, Wednesday)

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh...
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh...
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh...
Oh...
Oh...
Oh...

Verse 1:

Daylight came to me,
Every second history;
If only my fantasy,
Can become reality.

Pre-chorus:

If you want me bad,
If you want me back;
I'd sprinkle water in the air,
Mirror myself till the end.

Chorus:

Come tell me what's going on,
Our love means so much more;
Can't believe how true we were,
Dancing in the dark with eyes bright and burn.

Verse 2:

Then, night came to me,
Every second history;
If only my fantasy,
Can become reality.

Pre-chorus:

If you don't want me bad,
If you don't want me back;
I'd show you the exit door,
For you foreshadow my sorrow.

Chorus:

Come tell me what's going on,
Our love means so much more;
Can't believe how true we were,
Dancing in the dark with eyes bright and burn.

Bridge:

Baby, you don't have to pretend,
That I'm the one you really cared;
We can go anywhere,
Believing that love is there… Is there? Is there? Is there?

Chorus (2x)

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh...
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh...
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh...
Oh...
Oh...
Oh...
