Faces of Love

Faces of Love: Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 23rd February 2012, Thursday, 9:42 p.m.-9:56 p.m.; 11:58 p.m.-12:00 a.m.

What is love?
Why is it absurd?
Why does it hurt?
Who is love?

She said to me,
“Marry him.”
I think about it,
She said she is sorry.

It is easy,
For him;
Ignoring me,
Chasing me.

“I love you.”
It sounds so true;
I was a fool,
Trusting you.

“It is nice meeting you again,”
another said;
“You look attractive.”
I did not buy it.

Today,
I heard;
A couple separated,
He did not lie.

Just now,
A lost and found;
My heartbeat skipped a count,
He did not bow.

“Let’s get married.”
I received;
I told him,
“Don’t play with it.”

Is he that serious?
Does love really have faces?
Where are the ring and roses?
Has love lost its focus?

Busy Daisy

Busy Daisy

Busy Daisy,
Went to school one day;
And caught a lot of rain.

Busy Daisy,
Then went to the farm;
And got a lot to say.

She stood there,
Waving her hand;
“Good morning, hare!”
It quickly ran away.

She scratched her head,
And moved ahead;
She planned not to stay.

Busy Daisy,
Went on picking fruits;
The ants made way.

Busy Daisy said,
“Apple, you look so sweet today!”
She took a bite to taste.

Not as lovely as thought,
The caterpillar got shocked;
She totally forgot,
To knock on the door,
The apple she found on the floor!

Moral of the story: Dear kids, do you remember Snow White? Don’t judge a book by its cover. An apple may look very red or green on the outside but you will never know how bad it can be on the inside. Think before you act. Don’t trust strangers. Don’t be greedy and envious. Instead, just be thankful and happy with all that you have. Think of Busy Daisy when you eat your apple!

Suluhan Hati

Suluhan Hati
Ilham Asli oleh Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 19 Februari 2012, Ahad, 12:35 pagi-12:46 pagi, Di Bilik Tengah, University Heights.

Di sana ku berdiri,
Jangan kau iri hati;
Ku berdiri di kaki sendiri,
Pergilah kau dari sini,
Kau buka pintu hati,
Tetapi ku lihat dari segi realiti;
Kau hanya menipu diri,
Ku mencari-cari suluhan hati,
Yang kau tak bisa beri,
Biarkan sajalah ku melangkah pergi;
Jauh dari sini,
Ku tak ingin memori,
Di anggun api,
Menjadi sepi;
Dibuai simfoni mimpi,
Di ambang Mississippi,
Tuhan menjadi saksi,
Suluhan hati;
Ada di hati,
Sampai kita mati,
Ku tunggu di titi,
Kalau ada saja masa nanti;
Kita bertemu lagi,
Kilat langit kamera menyinari.

A Sweet Meet

A Sweet Meet
Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 18th February 2012, Saturday, 3:53 p.m.-5:30 p.m. (Plus Extra Time Later in the Evening), In My Middle Room, University Heights, Specially Dedicated to My Appreciative Brother and Neighbour, Peter Soh Weng Khai.

So there was he,
Following a she;
A friend to be,
A neighbor to me.

He came by visiting,
One afternoon;
I was cleaning,
In the washroom.

She didn’t call me,
As I was busy;
She knew I was in,
I knew there were people coming.

That was daylight,
Then came the night;
They who were outside,
Finally came inside.

“Jennifer, this is Peter,
Peter, this is Jennifer,”
said Amanda,
our beautiful sista.

That was it,
That was the sweet meet;
He looked so fit,
I was so full of flesh-meat.

Amanda was graduating,
Everything became exciting;
From hairdressing to make-upping,
From hugging to hopping.

I complimented her curly long hair,
He managed on all her natural fair;
The morning she went up there,
The DTSP stage, oh, so grand!

Peter and Jennifer,
What a coincidence!
Next meet up was even better,
We ate like no man’s business!

Yummy steamboat,
All through the throat;
Sick of consuming biscuit, bread, and oat,
We gobbled till we float and bloat.

We shared our stories,
All with mixed feelings;
We grew up in different territories,
But we realized we think of the same things.

After our happy meal,
We went back with zeal;
We had a good deal,
His kebaya I made real.

Nyonya kebaya,
The name is already so bergaya;
I took photos with jaya,
Then I started to berkarya.

To him,
I’m a wordsmith;
To me,
He’s a culture-smith.

Up till today,
Five poems I portray;
Based on what he requested,
About questions in life answered-unanswered.

Fourth time was sober,
We talked to each other;
He came with a burden,
He left with a comfort.

Our meet ups,
Know no sense of time;
We can talk about how life sucks,
In the end actually beauti-meaningful is in fact also life.

Once there was a wedding,
I saw his number calling;
I went to see him smiling,
To his camera I encouraged him posing.

Friday evening,
I was online-ing;
Again I heard him calling,
He was at my door standing.

A Valentine’s Day cake he presented,
Red chocolate ladybird a slice;
His at-the-moment-1Malaysia-housemate, Hisyam waited,
The cake was my late dinner, oh, thank God, how nice!

Satisfying Saturday,
That is how I’d say;
At Starbucks @ Borders, Queensbay,
Coffee and coffee all the merry way!

Peter,
Jennifer;
Rhythmic name,
Soh is our surname.

He believes in Buddha,
Everything has Karma;
I’m a Christian,
Together we’re so Eastern-Asian-Malaysian.

We can chat about anything,
From head to toe;
From A to Z,
You name it,
We just click!

Perhaps it is because I treat him as my brother,
Although different mother and father;
Who knows somehow or rather?
We’re of the same ancestor?

He’s so funny,
Surely I laugh;
He loves Peony,
I love Gerbera.

Our identities,
Very Chinese;
But not to many,
Who think we are foreign.

That is the nice part,
Of our physique side;
On our emotion side,
We speak heart to heart.

God has plans for everybody,
No money also still can live;
He sent Peter to me,
I thank Him in every hymn.

Today’s breakfast coffee turned lunch,
We chatted so much;
He said, “How can someone be so similar to me?
The thought, principle, and etc.”

This society is so hectic,
We see things differently;
The Earth is ill and sick,
We hear Mother crying silently.

Who are we to be?
A digital human being?
Can we return?
To the time when we were still children?

We are now in our twenties,
People now prefer Twitter over Twisties;
This world is beyond imaginary,
Facebook is now an every-second-diary.

Where are our ting-ting and congkak?
Where is the legendary masak-masak?
Why are some people so willing and terdesak?
To play video games until they become pekak?

We’ll not bring new lives,
If our diet is always french-fries;
We rather adopt existing lives,
Water the plant before the leaf dries.

There are so many things,
Happening in our minds;
We just hope for a better living,
Beware of what we can’t-don’t see behind.

Peter’s blessing is ever upon him,
Sincerely I’m very happy for him;
From family to academia to love mania,
I’m glad he knows that wealth is temporary nia.

Peter,
My Soh brother;
Please don’t go any thinner,
Height and weight do matter.

I thank you for being who you really are,
I’m sure you’ll go far like a star;
Fly high and reach the scarlet sky,
Touch the rainbow and keep asking why.

Time passes by,
We laugh and we cry;
Between truth and lie,
Between hi and goodbye.

I’m not afraid of death,
If I lose my health;
Don’t give me wealth,
Just sustain your breath.

No matter what you do,
I’ll be there for you;
I’m a human, too,
I’m sorry if I did anything wrong to you.

We truly thank you so much, Amanda,
For meeting both of us;
Even though you’re not here,
You’re still one of us.

I’ve no regrets of coming to USM,
Including staying in Penang;
Peter feels the same way, too,
Adapt, change, and challenge for a stronger you.

Face to feet,
A sweet meet;
Tortoise to discreet,
Another time we greet.

If and Only If Malaysia is Malaysian

If and Only If Malaysia is Malaysian
Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, Idea: 5th December 2011, Monday, 10:27 p.m., Written on 6th February 2012, Monday, 11:29 p.m. until 7th February 2012, Tuesday, 12:16 a.m.

Malaysia,
Are you Malaysian?
Have you experienced inertia?
How loud is the ocean?

If Malaysia is a Malaysian,
She calls herself Asian;
She speaks variation,
She calls herself a nation.

Mixed but still Malaysians,
So many races;
So many choices,
But still Malaysians.

Beef burger,
Pig sugar;
Cow as God,
Pig then pork.

If you respect one another,
Don’t eat in front of them;
If you are a Malaysian and not Other,
Shake each and every hand.

We love our mamak,
We love our nasi lemak;
We love our rojak,
We love and not pijak.

Why can’t we be fully Malaysians?
To call ourselves truly Asians;
We must know all languages,
We must drink hot and cold beverages.

Stop being proud,
There’s no need to be loud;
Listen only to a sound,
When comes a prey you pound.

If technology isn’t easy,
Think of something juicy;
Be creative and not lazy,
Let ideas be sexy.

You are already on the map,
There’s no way to hide;
Wake up a piece after your nap,
Be not like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

If you are a truly Malaysian,
Can you number the local radio stations?
Why is English the best sensation?
Why West and East are separate stations?

News on television,
Only three main languages in motion?
None Sabahan and Sarawakian?
Aren’t you a Malaysian?

This is a never ending debate,
Remember what you ate;
Remember who you date,
Remember not to be late.

When I'm old

When I’m old
Written originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 6th February 2012, Monday, 11:13 p.m.-11:28 p.m.

When I’m old,
Faithlessly I’m bold;
Easily catch a cold,
Tissues I fold,
Countless memories unfold,
Age turns gold;
Properties I hold,
Vanished into mold,
From own to sold,
Secrets once told;
From stories untold,
Only when I’m old.

USMTV December 2011 News Bulletin

I am surprised to witness that the December's news is reported in the Malay language. Nevertheless, I respect all decisions made by USMTV. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize that I have mentioned "Hockey Festival" instead of "Pesta Hoki". Honestly, we did retakes for it but unfortunately, none got selected. Please forgive me for not maintaing "Pesta Hoki". I shall never do it again. Have a Blessed and Happy New Dragon Year 2012, everyone :")
