Carry Me (Edited)

Carry Me

Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 14/11/2005, Monday, 6:51p.m., Edited: 16/10/11
Sunset is leaving me behind,
It’s me I gotta find;
Hoping that I won’t be blind,
To get what’s mine,
Being too kind,
That’s not the way;
I tried everything,
It isn’t the same,
Going to that special place,
I hope to see something;
But when the time’s not right,
And I didn’t get the sight,
I was left aside,
And that’s the reason I cried.

Pressure is sticking on me,
How could I get rid of it?
I need some sense of security,
What’s left to be?
Admiring people who already succeed,
While I’m lost in my own eternity;
Wanna meet them with humanity,
When would I have such opportunity?

Different people have different taste,
Unable to meet him is such a waste;
I dreamt of him on Saturday night instead,
“I like you,” that’s what he said,
I asked him to repeat and that gave me a shake,
Tomorrow morning I began to pray;
Hoping to behold him that very day,
He’s a superstar that’s what I’d say,
Can I make this feeling forever stay?

I can’t deny that I have fallen in love with him,
With good looks and splendid personality;
Hope that he has the same dream as me,
No matter how far we are,
One day we will meet,
And he would carry me;
‘Cause nothing’s gonna change my love for him,
Never had a chance to confess to him,
Not even in my sleep,
Maybe I’m too naïve.

Black Shadow (Edited)

Black Shadow: Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 05/11/2005, 8:07p.m., Saturday. (Edited: 16/10/11, Sun.)

What a bright day today,
Seeing people walking on the street;
Acting like they just don’t care,
It’s not like anybody’s having any fair,
What they did,
They would just give me a stare;
Whenever I fix my hair.

Wherever I go,
I see something following me;
But to me,
There’s nothing to show,
I guess it’ll just flow.

When I turned back,
I see nothing;
Except for the road that I left,
What was that thing?
That kept echoing me,
I felt the rush of adrenaline;
Running all over my body,
But all I see was empty.

It was like magic,
So many questions why;
To me it’s so tragic,
Don’t know what’s gonna happen next,
People around told me to relax,
When they saw;
Something dropped on the floor,
Which I called it my sweat.

I’m a girl,
Of course I’m scared;
It’s not that I wanna give it a twirl,
But I don’t know where would I land,
Giving my black hair a little curl,
I finally see my hand;
Turning and turning,
The black shadow kept following,
It wasn’t any bad guy or something,
It was me all along;
How could I get so wrong,
Listening to my own song,
It only happens during daytime,
When I could enjoy my lime;
Just like the others,
We are peoples,
Knowing that I’ll be just fine,
How could I be so blind?

Tint of Red

Tint of Red:
Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 15th and 16th October 2011, 11:58 p.m.-12:14 a.m., in the living room, U.H., Penang.

He says, “History does renew,
On its own;
If it doesn’t,
It means we’re dead.”

Blooming tint of red,
Lighter red;
Under the shed,
Never like a man’s bed.

Belongs to Ted,
Morning to wed;
Breakfast he fed,
Tuxedo he led.

Degree in med,
Lipstick in red;
Rings with Jed and Ed,
Dress in tint of red.

She says, “Mirror,
Do you see what I see?
Am I what I see?
Why can’t you be two-way, mirror?”

The Flower Bat

The Flower Bat: Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 15th October 2011, Saturday, 10:16 a.m.-10:45 a.m., In DTSP, USM, Penang

The flower bat,
Here I bet;
Go scare the cat,
Sleeping on the mat.

Grab the hat,
Be a het;
Go get fat,
Love where you are at.

Come back for a pat,
You are my pet;
I will fly the jet,
If you let.

Here I sat,
Wings are set;
Go scare the rat,
Sleeping in the vat.

Forget the tit for tat,
Without the tet;
Go get wet,
Be the best yet.

Unlock the Peacock

Unlock the Peacock: Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 10th October 2011, Monday, 8:50 p.m.-9:30 p.m., In My Middle Room (U.H.), Specially Dedicated to Peter Soh Weng Khai

Knock, knock,
Where is the peacock?
Knock, knock,
Do not stop the clock.

Birds a flock,
Skies do not block;
My dear peacock,
Here I unlock.

The freedom is yours,
Your beauty so pure;
One surely endures,
Your smile can cure.

Tick, tock,
There goes the clock;
Flip, flop,
There goes the rock.

Up on your feet you go,
Spread your wings high and low;
Nicely fix your bow,
Make friends and not foe.

Your tail is magical,
I give you score a double;
Showing off to a couple,
Fulfilling people’s whimsical.

Never ever be a mock,
You are a colorful peacock;
Come; let me bring you for a jog,
You are going to be famous in a blog.

You are my Chinese fan,
I am your number one fan;
I do not think I can,
Give you a ban.

You are gorgeously made,
By chemistry and fate;
I have met her on the promised date,
This memory will not fade.

You are now my motive,
Promise me you will stay active;
I am lucky to have Aunty Kim,
She tailored you in my kebaya so him.

If you are smelly,
Do tell my belly;
Do not be sorry,
I made you worry.

But first you need some training,
Especially on swimming;
You will experience bathing,
I will not leave you suffocating.

I will take care of you,
For the rest of my life;
You are my companion so true,
You are the light of my life.

It has been a tiring day,
Let us call it a day;
Go ahead; sleep the whole day,
Today is your day!

Close your eyes,
Do not think twice;
You are my surprise,
You deserve a prize.

Knock, knock,
Do not shut the door;
Knock, knock,
I love you more.

Do you need your sock?
My dear peacock;
Here I keep you warm,
Do not be frightened by the storm.

Sleep tight,
I will wake you after night;
Sweet dream,
I thank you, Aunty Kim.

"Wang"

“Wang”:
Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, Idea: 4:28 petang, 1st October 2011, In Rapid Penang’s 308

Kaum Melayu (Ibu dan anak di dalam sebuah kedai runcit)

Ibu, tu ayang nak,
Ayang nak apa, nak;
Tu, bu, ayang nak,
Ambillah apa yang ayang nak.

Berapa tu, tauke?
Dua Ringgit;
Sikit ni dah dua Ringgit,
Aiya, gula-gula sudah naik harga sikit.

Bu,
Ya, nak?
Tadi bu bayar wang kertas satu,
Ya, betul tu, nak,
Tapi kenapa dapat balik banyak wang kertas, bu?
Tu baki, nak;
Banyak wang kertas lebih kaya, bu,
Tak semestinya, nak.

Kaum Cina (Ibu dan anak di dalam rumah mereka)

妈,
我会努力的;
不要担心,妈,
不做不得。

好孩子,
妈希望你要真实;
不要做错误的事,
不要害怕没有饭吃。

妈,
我要发大财;
我要旺!
我要吃好菜

傻瓜
不能什么都好;
多吃苦瓜,
为你的身体是好。

妈,
我明白了;
谢谢你,妈,
旺不是娱乐。

“Wang itu tidak bernama, Tanda kita kongsi bersama.”

I Heart My Nyonya Kebaya

I Heart My Nyonya Kebaya:
Written Originally by Jennifer Soh Li Wen, 2nd October 2011, Sunday, 10:43 p.m.-11:38 p.m., Specially Dedicated to Peter Soh Weng Khai

An ordinary boy,
Reading Lat’s Kampung Boy;
Listening to Susan Boyle,
A descendant of Yap Ah Loy.

Born in the Malacca Town,
I don’t have to frown;
As I love a typical gown,
No, I’m not a clown.

The Baba and Nyonya,
A heritage I knew since young;
They make my heart so girang,
I love to see them minum petang.

Even though I am a boy,
I can see the joy;
Of wearing the Nyonya Kebaya,
It is never only for Hari Raya.

I’m now a grown up man,
A real man with a tan;
I’m very proud of my motherland,
It makes me feel like I’m in wonderland.

Here I am standing tall,
I’ve made a decision once and for all;
No one will see me fall,
I roll fast like a ball.

It runs in my blood,
It flies high like a bird;
It speaks louder than a word,
I want my tradition to be heard.

A collection of the Nyonya Kebaya,
Now I have up to nine;
Yes, they are all mine,
Each has their own shine of cahaya.

The ninth is my latest,
It is as special as the first;
I’ve tailor made it into the male version,
My fitting today was perfection.

I’m a mobile person,
I go from places to places;
I don’t have to give a reason,
If people give me funny faces.

I am who I am,
I wear what I like to wear;
I don’t have to act like Sam,
Each of us has our own custom to share.

The Nyonya Kebaya is a beautiful art,
It is ever so close to my heart;
Nothing can tear or break us apart,
I’d love to have it shown in Wal-Mart.

This is my identity,
This is my destiny;
This is my priority,
This is my victory.

To know me is to know the Nyonya Kebaya,
Why must you think I’m that different?
If you have the money also you can’t bayar,
It is that priceless and the value is vibrant.

As a conclusion,
I’m into fashion;
My own style is my own total and soulful desire,
Now if you’d excuse me, I heart my Nyonya Kebaya
